Parents

Father: Cornelis de Duytser
Mother: Leonora|Eleanora de Hoges|Hooges

Marriage

Margriet Duyser|Duytser, b. Hurley, married Jacob Westfael|Westvaal, b. Kingstown, both now living in Minisink. Marriage may have been performed on Nov 19, 1717, at the Minisink Valley Reformed Church at Machackemeck (Deerpark), Orange, NY {No Marriage Record Found}. Marriage was recorded at the Central Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster, NY[2]. It is possible however that the prospective bride and groom returned to Ulster County (about 75 miles) to be married. They were living in the Minisink Valley for the baptism of their child, Maria, on Jan 28, 1719. This is the only child found in the Minisink Valley Church records, as these records did not officially commence until a permanent church was built and a Dominie was assigned ca. 1738. Margriet and Jacob were not found in the Minisink Valley records again until April, 1743 when they sponsored the baptism of Petrus Kimber there[3]. During the interval they baptized several more children in the Minisink Valley, New York or New Jersey.

Children

Only one child's baptism was found at Minisink Valley Church at Machackemeck (Deerpark), among the "lost" records. The others were all found at the Kingston Reformed Church; record keeping at the Minisink Church did not begin until 1738.
  1. Maria Westfael|Westvaal was bp. on Jan 28, 1719. Baptism was recorded at the Minisink Valley Reformed Church at Machackemeck (Deerpark), Orange, NY[4].
    • Note: this baptism record for Maria was one of several records for baptisms conducted in the Minisink Valley by traveling Dominies that were never recorded at the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston as was expected. These "lost" records were found sometime later among local meeting house records that were transferred to the Minisink Valley Reformed Church at Machackemeck (Deerpark), Orange, NY, when this Church assumed the central recording role in the late 1730s, early 1740s. Sometime in the early 1740's The Reformed Dutch Church at Kingston no longer recorded events occurring in the Minisink Valley. The "lost" records were never known to Rev. Hoes, when he translated the Kingston Reformed Church's Dutch records for his book.
  2. Eleonora, Westvaal was bp. on Oct 22, 1721 at Minisink. Baptism was recorded at the central Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster, NY[5]
  3. Cornelis Westvaal was bp. on Sep 01, 1723 at Minisink. Baptism was recorded at the central Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster, NY[6]
  4. Elizabeth Westvaal was bp. on Jan 16, 1726 at Minisink. Baptism was recorded at the central Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster, NY[7]
  5. Zara Westvaal was bp. on Oct 6, 1728 at Minisink. Baptism was recorded at the central Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster, NY[8], Jacob Kuykendaal and Zara Westvaal were sponsors. On the same date Jacob Kuykendaal, Zara Westvaal bp. son Nathaniel [9], and Jacob Westvaal, Margriet de Duytser sponsored this baptism.
  6. Sophia Westval was bp. on Jun 19, 1734 at Minisink. Baptism was recorded at the central Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster, NY[10]
  7. Margriet Westphal was bp. on Aug 26, 1736 at Minisink. Baptism was recorded at the central Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster, NY[11]

Death

The last known record for both Jacob and Margriet is from 17 April 1743, when they witnessed a baptism at Machackemeck in the Minisink Valley. They died some time thereafter.

Yes, de_Duytser-6 is the merge destination. The spelling "de Duytser" is the correct LNAB and the merge direction is controlled by the fact that de_Duytser-6 is project-protected.

De Duyster-12 merges into -6 yes?
posted by John Balow
De Duyster-12 and De Duytser-6 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents, same birth, same death, same spouse. The misspelling of de Duytser may be the reason why the duplication wasn't detected. These need to be merged.

"de Duytser" is the correct spelling of the LNAB.

this profile should be promptly merged into De Duytser-6

LNAB is de Duytser, based on baptism record.

De Duytser-6 and De Duyser-1 appear to represent the same person because: based on child, this is the same person, the NNS project should decide which LNAB to use.
posted by Robin Lee
Duyster-3 and De Duyster-11 are not ready to be merged because: Correct LNAB needs to be obtained first.
Duyster-3 and De Duyster-11 appear to represent the same person because: Both profiles represent the same person. While the destination surname should be de Duytser, based on her baptism record, the number of surname variations for Eleanora suggest that the best surname choice is De Duyster-11, The surname Duyster-3 does not contain the "de" prefix that was part of her surname, suggesting this destination to be the poor choice. Once we eliminate all the obviously wrong duplications we can concentrate on the spelling of the name...the exact placement of the "t".
